computer not detecting new hdd

i bought a new SATA hard disk today. i've connected the plugs properly. i could see it in the device manager but cant see it in my computer. here are my specs
C2Q 6600
4GB DDR2
Asus 9600gt
Vista Ultimate SP1

seeing as it is new, have you formatted it? To see it under My Computer and use it as another drive you need to format it and assign it a drive letter before it will appear under My Computer. Help that is what your looking for.

Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Disk Management on the left, Click on the disk at the lower right, Partition and format.
