Computer Maintenance

What is a good maintenance program for a PC that will fix registry errors and other problems that is not loaded with ads and other junk.
I want to buy a good program the does the job and leaves everything else on my computer alone.
I don't want to buy stuff that wants to change my home page, add on a search tool bar or add on other junk.

Basically what you are looking for is free programs in the likes of

1. Ccleaner
2. Malwarebytes

I highly recommend not using a registry cleaner as they will usually do more damage then good.

Get them here.

Ccleaner will delete your temporary internet and system files which if not deleted will slow your system down.

Malwarebytes is just that, a malware scanner. Very good program and you would want to run it along side of your antivirus program. Nothing is full proof and thats why you need multiple programs to make sure you are free from malware.

You can run windows built in disk defragment program and disk cleanup if you wish. You can defrag your hard drive once every few months and thats if you install and uninstall programs on a regular basis.

I'd recommend Glary's Utilities over CCleaner/AVG TuneUp.
The only thing I don't like, is that it puts a bunch of stuff in to your context menu (when you right click a file etc). This can be disabled in settings tho.
You should really check www.ninite.com
Pick Auslogics Defrag and Glary under Utilities and it'll install them for you.

No I have not, haven't even heard of it until now. May have to install it and try it out.

used it a bit and if it does no good it also seems to do no harm.lol.i always backup my registry with tweaking.coms registry backup just to be sure.

Registry cleaners are kinda like snake oil really. They are good if you had to uninstall a program manually and need to delete the leftover registry entries, but for everything else they really don't serve much of a purpose or increase the speed of your computer.

I have used [FONT=Verdana,Arial,Helvetica]Eusing Free Registry Cleaner and Ccleaner. Then I'll run System Ninja.
