Computer Keeps Restarting Itself

Ive been having problem after problem with my computer. I had to replace a faulty motherboard and now something else is wrong with it. It randonly restarts itself for no apparent reason. I think it might be the graphics card but im not sure. Ive swapped it with a different computers graphics card and its still having problems. The computer thats got the graphics card i think is faulty isnt restarting randomly but the screen is going weird (its like its smudged in lines vertically all across the screen and it when you scrool the page seems to judder), and the computer with the graphics card i know is fine is still restarting itself so the driver/software installed for it might have messed something up. Im tempted to get an exchange on the graphics card and completely wipe the hard drive and just start again but i just wanted o see if there was anything else i could do to try and fix this problem.

Heres some pics of what i mean by the smudging

I dont know if its just because of some setting ive got but tried changing the resolution but that didnt change anything.

Thanks,
