Computer Integrated Desk

Hey, guys,

So, my friend and I both use a couple computers (mostly old computers) that run around 3 monitors (mostly old monitors) and we came up with the idea of a desk that would have four computers set into it. Each computer would have a compartment that drops down from the desk to hold the motherboard, hard drive, CD/DVD drive, etc. Those compartments would be topped with some acrylic sheeting. Everything would be fairly accessible for maintenance and upgrades, with enough room for video cards, etc. There would also be a fairly powerful ventilation system.

Anyway, with four computers in the desk powering four monitors, they'd probably be hooked up through the network with Synergy (if you don't know it, it's a program that connects several computers to one so you can use one keyboard/mouse). It sounded pretty cool to us, and the desk would be large enough to still offer a fair amount of workspace despite having four monitors on it.

I was wondering what you guys would think of something like this... would you be interested/like to have it/have a use for it/like it?

Thanks,

Oz

Sounds like an interesting enough idea, tell us how it turns out :D Take pictures. I might wanna build my own ;)

Yeah, we've thought through a pretty hefty circulation system. Gotta get a lot of air through there to keep the acrylic tops from getting too hot.
