Computer-Home audio system

I want to build a nice system for music in my living room. It will fill a decent sized living room. I am using my Pentium duel core rig, 2gb Ram, 500gb harddrive, biostar g41 mobo. I have a Creative Labs sb0200 Live! Sound Card to throw in it. I am just downloading discographies of my favorite bands in FLAC. Will be using for Rock, classic rock, metal, country, and all the sub divisions. So I want a ok HIFI system.

I was thinking this amp,
http://www.amazon.com/LP-2020A-Lepai-Tripath-Class-T-Amplifier/dp/B0049P6OTI/ref=sr_1_1?s=aht&ie=UTF8&qid=1359761866&sr=1-1
20watt RMS per channel HIFI. I would like to spend under 100 bucks. I dont mind building nice boxes for the speakers, I got a miter saw, table saw, drill press, bandsaw, and I can use the Dato at my schools woodshop. And I have good 14ga speaker wire and a good 3.5mm cable with antistatic bands on each end. I would like opinions on the amp and suggestions on bookshelf speakers Please. Thank you.

And now I have a 80s radio shack PA amp and crappy RCA bookshelf speakers.

For the budget you've got, I would just go with a set of 2.0 computer speakers.
Otherwise, look around on the second hand market.

As much as I hate bad audio, He is pretty much right. You need computer speakers. But if you can up the budget, then you should be able to get some great speakers that will actually make use of your sound card.

Personally, I recommend these speakers:
http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?partnumber=300-652.
They are amazing for the price (with a good sound card). That cuts your budget though, as decent subs are about $120, with the lowest priced running $80. (http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?partnumber=252-404).
Then you of coarse need your amp, and some decent wiring.

Though you can get some decent speakers for around $80 also, Logitech Z500 series. Just turn the sub down to 0 and use the onboard sound chip and you will be fine. Does decent for plain old music on MP3.

For a little more you could probably get a set of M-Audio or some Audioengine speakers.
If it was me I'd go for second hand though.

I was looking at those speakers, I could get my Buddies MTX terminator 150w rms @4 ohm mono block amp for bout $10. And a Rockford Fosgate 8in sub in a tube for $20. I have a modded computer power supply to. I have good 14 ga wire. So with those datons and the little amp, how do you think that would be?

It should be decent. The Datons are suprisingly good for the price. Can't really comment on th erest of it, as most of my knowledge with this is just theoritical. I have Logitech Z505s (don't touch them with a million meter pole) as my speakers. all bass nothing else. :(

Well Il buy the datons for now, Then look for a sub and amp. Pretty much anything is better than what I have now. And I am not blowing money on cheap 2 watt computer speakers, Id rather buy a decent setup in 2 parts.
