Unless we have more information it's hard to help. You say you've taken all necessary steps to configure the lan but it fails to connect so you must have not done all the steps ;).

Please tell us the steps you have taken so others can see how you've configured your lan and perhaps even suggest other possible solutions. This Is the only way someone could possibly give you an intellegent answer.

Oh yes. Sysetem specs please.

Maybe your house wiring is crapy no offence, I've had the same problem before. if its not the house wiring it could be that you have a bad network cable.

Thanks for reading my problem. I had actually install ghost image from a computer but still that computer do not connect to lan. I had formatted it. One hardware professional had take saveral steps to find the error. But still the computer do not connect to the lan. I am running windows Me. Computer is of DART. Ram 128 MB, Processor celeron 556 MHz. Is is possible that the problem could be because of socket where we plug the lan card.

I think you should do the basic check first: -
Is your NIC and hub port ok?. Installed the NIC driver and Check the lamp.
Check the tcpip configuration: tcpip, subnet mask, gateway, dns.
I think the most possibilities:. u check your utp cable or try to use different cable first
