graphics card
The graphics card was my first idea. I installed it in another computer and it's worked fine for a couple weeks now. I really don't think that's the problem. Also, she has pc doctor installed on her computer. I ran all the tests and everything checks out fine.
I bought her a new computer so she could play her games and not steal my computer when I wanted to use it. lol. I'd really like to get the old one running again. It's a better computer than the one I'm using now.
Last time it happened, I rebooted immediately, went to set up and checked the cpu temp. It seems to be high (115°F). I cleaned the heatsink, fans and all the air vents in the case. I then rebooted again and checked the cpu temp. It was about 103°F. I played with it until it blacked out again. I rebooted quickly and checked the temp. This time it was 114°F. I don't know what normal operating temp for this cpu is, but this seems a little high.
The one thing I haven't checked, because I just thought of it(duh), is the voltage settings from the psu. BTW, the computer is running normal speed. It's not overclocked.
She has a 19" Envision flat screen crt monitor. It doesn't go to sleep when the screen blacks out. It will if I let the computer sit for a few mins, but that's the way the monitor works. It does that under normal conditions.
