Compaq Laptop won't Turn On

I am not really sure as to what really happened to my computer since my brother doesn't like to admit what he did to it. Also, I am not really sure if it is a software/hardware related issue, but I do think it is a hardware one since my laptop seems to be turned on despite the monitor isn't showing anything. It suddenly happened to my laptop. Can anyone help me? Thanks!
 
When you turn it on, are there any lights that come on? Does the hard drive activity light blink?
