Prolly the ASUS A7N8X or Abit NF7 seriesI have a Compaq 5420 with a 1.47 gigahertz AMD Athlon XP and a Compaq 073Ch motherboard that I would like to upgrade. Does anybody know what is the fastest motherboard I can upgrade to. I've looked for this info everywhere. thanks.
If he keeps the CPU as it seems, the most he's gonna get is NF2Ultra which is for the most part, affordableThe fastest? Eek, What's you budget, I could tell you some PRETTY fast ones out their but they can be a tad expensive with the CPUs and such
Ok so you want the motherboard and not the CPU .... for that we'll need the chipset info (mostly cuz navigating compaq website to get the model number is tortureous) ... use CPUz (www.cpuid.com) and checkout the mainboard tab for that informationI want to keep the motherboard......I just dont know what it can support.
1. Overkill IMOOk It's supporting an athlon XP 1.47 ghz, That is a Socket A Processor,
Yeah itll be 266 meaning your actual CPU clock will be 1.46GHz (as opposed to 2.2Ghz)Also do keep in mind that the fsb will be only as fast as the mobo supports, it won't be 400MHz
