College blocking certain ports?

I'm at college, and I have super fast internet provided by the school. Surfing the net and downloading things is very fast. BUT when I play games online, it seems like i'm running slow dial up.

My friend said you can make it so you can use any program on any port. Anyone know how to do this?

Thanks.

i might be wrong about this but i was in college myself 2 years ago and i dont think there is any way around this.. The network administrator has blocked some services and programs such as Kazaa, DC++ and probably, as you say, online gaming.. From my experience no one ever managed to get around this, at least not in my year..

You would need control of the (game) server which is running, or know someone who has control over it. They would then need to set the game server to run on a port which is enable through your computers firewall...
