CM Hyper 212 EVO Install on AMD - Pics

I received my new cooler today and had at it.
My install is on a AM3+ mb.
Much to my surprise unlike many other coolers for AMD you can rotate the heatsink to aim in all 4 directions instead of up or down.

The first thing I had to do was swap out the back plates.
And remove the plastic topside mount.

This will leave you with 4 mounts on the top side to screw the cross bars to.

The mounting cross bars without the HS.

Like I said you can mount it to exhaust the direction you want.

Mounted to exhaust toward the back for me.
My PS is a top mount in my HP case.

I haven't done any temp tests yet but I did notice a 6c drop at idle over the top line non liquid AMD cooler. Not that cheap aluminum block one.

Later I will start folding to see what the diff is under load since I know what it ran at before.

And feel free to critique the crappy quality of the pics. :P

looks like you did a good job. I have yet to test temps on mine too. Did not get pics on install though as it was installed 3+ times yesterday and I got tired of pics fast.

I didn't think about pics til after I started.
So far I have an 8c drop while folding, but I'll need more time to average it out.

The main reason I decided on a thread was so people would know about the mounting directions.

So far I am very happy but I'll need to mod my side cover or just leave it off.
The nubs of the tubes got me, I knew it was going to be close.

my cover will go on, but I need to leave it off to finish sanding it to recover from a drunk adventure with a blue spray can.

Folding at 100% usage on 8 threads, mine is running about 55* except core 3 that is running at 60*.

My cores are at 27c atm, socket temp is 42c.
I'm sure that will change once I decide to play with overclocking on it.

1. Put some paint on the Nubs.
2. Set case side on in normal position.
3. Drill small holes on the marks
4. Du-Bur holes
5. You you have copper nubs sticking out your case side :)

If I mod it will be different than that.
My cover slides on so round holes would be out of the question.
I'd mill out a rectangular opening and probably use small diameter slit tubing on the edges.
Then I would probably paint the raised Cooler Master stamp mark if I was going for show.
Somewhere I have a box with black, red and other color rubber tube caps that I will use on the nubs as it will look better.
