Chrome and IE wont load Interweb-Firefox will

So I recently changed some settings on my new router (network name, password, etc)

since then, only Firefox can connect to the internet

Chrome, IE, iTunes, etc- All act like there is no connection

in CMD I can ping websites and get a response just fine

I am wired to my router, which is directly connected to my internet. So I am in no way wireless. but all my wireless peripherals work fine (laptop, xbox, iPhone)

anyone have any ideas why/what I can do to fix this issue?

I had that happen when I did a system restore a couple weeks back. I actually ended up switching to a new machine a couple days later (for unrelated reasons) - so I let the matter drop, but I am still curious as to what the underlying issue was here.

I did have some pretty nasty malware that had gotten in prior to restore, so that might be the issue. Although the system restore *seemed* to eradicate that.
