cheap sound card for games

I have a pretty old e-machines (about 3-4 yrs old) with its default sound chip or whatever. I tried plugging in my new ATH-A500 headphones into it and I got a lot of hissing, and I know the lack of a soundcard plays a large part in it. Is there a cheap sound card out there that will give good quality audio? I'd also really like for it to support 3D audio (only for headphones) for games like counter-strike, and other half-life mods.
When I say cheap, I mean less than $40-$50. Thanks

I was looking around and I saw the Turtle Beach Riviera 5.1 Digital PCI Sound Card. Is that any good? There have been good reviews about it, but I'm worried about audio quality and surround sound quality

I'd get a creative labs sound card, as mentioned above... I might be wrong, but I beleive most things are based around their cards. Anything else might result in compatability issues. Nothing major, just minor problems in the audio, espcially 3D/surround stuff

Of course, I'm probably wrong.
