Cheap place to buy computer parts

I want to build a powerful desktop computer, but don't have nearly enough money. Where is the cheapest place to buy new, or high quality used parts such as motherboards, processors, hard drives, etc. So far I am looking on Newegg and Amazon. Any other suggestions?

Go to the Microcenter in St Louis Park. I go there all the time to get stuff.

Used can be tough. I look through craigslist and talk with the users to see if they took care of the parts. Don't just ask them if they took care of it, as what temps they were seeing, performance numbers. Even if you know. Just to prove they were actively taking care of what they were using, not just idiots with too much money.

Use this website to "virtually" build your new PC: http://pcpartpicker.com/ It will let you seek out the lowest prices (on-line) for the parts you choose.

That's all well and good but one thing I don't like about that is obviously different shops sell different parts at different prices, which means you're ordering from multiple shops and that can get confusing - especially if you ever need to send anything back. I always recommending buying from one shop if you can.

The best way is either to buy used and hope you get good deals or save up and buy new. High-end hardware is expensive. Always has been, always will be. You could lower your sights a bit and go for less expensive hardware. There are quite a lot of affordable parts out there which perform well.
