changing 9800GT fan speed?

Ok so for whatever reason my 9800 is overheating with CoD4 (oddly enough I can run about anything else with full graphics without any problems) and it seems to be a common problem with this card for cod4.

It was suggested I increase the fan speed on the card with Rivatuner since the cards aren't shipped with the fans operating at full speed and that it should make a noticeable difference.

I've downloaded Rivatuner but I'm not quite sure how to increase the fan speed on the card.

Current Idle Temp: 60*

Nevermind, I figured it out.

GPU idles at 48* now :good:

edit: it's only idling at 45* now

Well this is stupid, it's still overheating with cod4, although it took a lot longer to happen this time.

I'm not even playing at full resolution or graphics yet I can run Crysis on full both without any issues.

Omg, how can you idle with that high temps? that's like 15c MORE than my GTX 480's idle.. Your previous idle was almost as high as the max temp i saw in gaming with 480.. I think there might be something wrong with the cooling of your card. Maybe you should consider a cheap aftermarket cooler?

Honestly, I dunno. This comp has always run hot, even with the parts I had before it did but I'd never had any issues til now. Even my old 8600 ran around these same temps and I NEVER had any issues with that card. The case is clean, very light dust and I clean it out periodically and its on a desk and we don't have carpet. It gets good airflow, ect.

Can't, I'm broke or I would. Not going to buy one when the issue I have is only for 1 game either.
