So I have been making my back ups of some new CDs I bought to keep them nice and safe and I odd thing is happening.

Every time I burn the files play on my PC but wont play in my car...I am curious as to why?

Nothing has changed...same program (Nero)...same settings/options and they work perfectly only on my PC.

The discs I used are made by Sony. Which makes me wonder if they are being selective on what I can do with "their" discs.

likely file format. Are they mp3. you might not have an mp3 player in the car. honestly i forgot what the standard is. Nero will work. a wav file will work fine. then the standard format.
others will no more about it. i a have burned in wav a work. i read your reply again. your using Nero burn. it has to be the format.

All files are .mp3 so no issue there. Its the same format I always used.

The only new snag is I bought Sony discs vs my usual cheap-o ones made by Memorex.

*edit*

In Nero all I did was "Audio CD" put the songs on leaving 10 minutes from the "yellow" warning line and hit burn.

sorry.....only have one suggestion. i think its the color of the dye. some purple, yellow, gray. im thinking it could be the color. related to the laser on the reader. only thing i can think of.

I see that is a odd shame....guess I will have to try another burner. Thanks for the assist anyways Tremmor.

its not the burner. thats not the problem. if it plays on the computer or elsewhere. its the cd. i just suspect its the color only.

Go back to your original disks.

Why would I do that when the thread specifically stated I wanted back up copies for my car?

I see well after the family reunion is over I will buy my cheap Memorex discs and see how they work out then.

Thanks.

You misintrepreted what i said. Because you said the only thing different you did was buy different cdr's. If everything worked before that then you need to go back to the original Memorex cd's you were using.

Certain discs don't work in my car and it's a Sony CD-player. Sony discs work but cheap off-brand ones don't sometimes. Usually when I get the CDs from a discount store.

Ah I see very sorry then.

Let me know. Now im curious........

Yeah will let you know for sure...also going to try burning a disc in .wmv vs mp3 see if that does anything too.

Good thing I have a quad...makes the process faster ^-^

This may sound stupid but you are 'Finalizing' the disks arnt you?
If you are not then they will work on the pc you burnt them on but not on a player.

Yeah Alan every software will Finalize the disc for you...I don't think you can cancel it.

I also do a 4x disc check to slow check for errors too roughly 15 mins per burn doing it this way.

Well a new change has come up.
I burned on a older burner the old IDE type and it magically works now. I tried on a Sony and Memorex disc and BOTH work on my CD player now.
I tried again with my SATA burner and failed to work. I tried on my old Sony Disc-man (9+ years old) and the both the new burner and old burner copies work.
So it ended up being a picky CD player...something about the older burner did something the newer one didn't. Perhaps the new on burns digitally or something.

Either case thank you for the help :)

If anyone knows why please let me know I am very curious on this matter.
