CD/HDD Caddy

I've seen everywhere on the internet about installing a CD-ROM caddy instead of a CD-ROM that holds a second hard drive for laptops and I use to have one in an older laptop at one time but I have never seen one for all-in-one computers. I have three all-in-one computers, two of them have really good high specs but they're only downfall is not being able to hook up a second hard drive internally. At the moment I use external hard drives and even though they're USB 3 they are still not fast enough and I don't like the extra clutter on the desk (OCD issues) Does anyone have any info on these? I would just got the CD ROM drive out and super glue the exterior plate on the outside for looks and hard wire a second hard drive inside but the connector on the Sata connector on the CD-ROM does not match the HDD Sata Connector. Thanks

Howdy, all of the slim connectors should be the same for SATA optical drives, I used one of what you are describing in a laptop where either the controller or SSD failed and took out that SATA channel (and also the SSD), rendering the bay useless, but putting a drive in the optical bay with the adapter worked fine.

You can also remove the cover plate from the optical drive and clip it to the adapter to maintain the aesthetic.

Thank you for your response . So this one from AliExpress is universal? I thought they had to be specific to your computer model.

Yea you don't really need an adapter even. the 4 screw holes line up for hard drives and optical in the mounts for dvd/cd players

you certainly need an adapter as the interface is different physically from a standard 2.5" sata drive

This is the problem without using a CD Caddy, the Sata connector for the CD is physically smaller. If I could buy an adapter then I would just use then space from the CD and secure it with double stick tape. I've searched for the adapter but i'm thinking they don't make one.

I think I may be off the mark of what we're adapting. With my build I just put the drive right in the slot the cd usually goes in and screwed it in

Is it like this? Cause I have no problem fitting the screws for the drive I'm the bottom to secure it. Been running this for 5 years no issues

I Looks like you have a desktop but i'm talking about an All In One. In an AIO there's no way to attach the Hard Drive but strong double stick tape works fine. My issue is with the Data and Power connector. The connectors for the CD are smaller then normal connectors. That's why I was looking for a caddy, not so much for securing the HDD to the frame but more for connecting the Data and Power cables.
