Cases with Motherboard Tray Fan

So I am curious anyone here ever see those cases that have a fan on the motherboard tray? Right around where the CPU would be.
I am curious you think those do any good? I would imagine under the CPU would warm up as well but would it push enough air to actually do anything?

Just something strange I saw and was curious how valid the idea was. I could see how it could help as I saw a 1-2c drop in temps adding a fan to the back of my GPU.

I sadly can't find the cases that had it as it was a few months ago when I saw them was just curious what CF members thought about it.

Yea, my case has it. It helps soooo much. My temps dropped my 9-11 C. My case is the CM690 by Coolermaster. But the problem is that it isn't a regular case fan (it is but...) it needs to be 'thinner' than the average case fan. I had to go with a SilenX 80mm (the largest size for that slot is 80 for my case).

Vizy..i also have the C690 and wondered if i should add a fan underneath the cpu skt.

so it definatly helps out?

Yes, you should do it, but in my situation ( I have a 6000 x2, a very hot processor), my processor was going like at 55-60 C idle ( during the summer) and the extra fan brought it down to a manageable 44-48 idle 53 load. But if you are already doing OK (computer parts are tough), then why fix something if it ain't broke.

I am curious is this 10c drop to your CPU or your case temps?

Sorry for the double post,

It was for my Cpu. The fan is located directly under the CPU in my situation, and of course, you point the fan at the cpu. And I used HWMonitor to check temps.

ok i might try that tks :)

Twist86...i do appoligise for the thread hijack :o...but it caught my attention and thought i might aswell ask while on the topic :)

Tech its under the same subject so I don't mind :)

I was thinking of doing it to my Antec 900 if those temps are verified by others even 5c is a hell of a decrease. That is the difference of 200mhz for me. 3.4ghz would be achievable.
Best part is I would have more room to play with so I could install a more chunky fan ^-^
