Okay.. Who's done it before and what websites do you recommend for parts and How-To's?:good:

Ya, the nice thing is those guys are about 20 minutes from me and probably will end up going there for some parts since I don't have to pay shipping.

Oh hey well thats cool. To me it looked like good stuff. I may try to mod one of my old computers so I can get more for it when I sell it this summer.

I bought a Cooler Master Elite 335 off craigslist for $20 and figured I'd experiment on that. I just want something other than the Black/Blue computers  But part of my problem is that my 'work shop' is a shed outside with no heating.. and it's around 10 degrees here in Minnesota. :(

who cares the thing is under the desk or hidden i have 2 running and there hidden ugly noisey things, I got dual 24's and wireless everything. gotta love wireless. Had the lights and fans and all that back in the day now i dont see the need to modify other than I would like a cloaking cover :) so i dont have to look at them

Well to some extent case mod'ing isn't all about making it look 'purdy'. I don't have the funds at the moment to have like an Antec 900 or a computer has that has good ventilation and cable management, so I could make my current case to match what I want by adding a few fans, cutting slots to route cables, etc...

What kind of mods are you looking to do?

- Paint and color scheme?
- Cooling mods?
- Lighting mods?
- Cable management mods?

You budget also has a lot to do with it...you can spend a few dollars or hundreds if not thousands. There is actually many people here that have done mods from the very simple paint to more advanced.

Here is one I did on my balcony...very simple paint and a little cutting.

Here is a button mod mac550 did, she mounted custom buttons in one of the front panels.

As far as parts...I always look at these two sites. Frozencpu has tons of parts...wonderful site.

Not all people Hide there computers though..there are some environments were moding is a good thing.

I have the Cooler Master Elite 335. Since there's the typical spots for fans, (Front bottom, back top, and side panel), I was thinking of putting my 2 DVD/CD components on the lowest mount and install a fan on top. And then on the side panel there's 2 odd ball spots for fans, and was maybe thinking of cutting that out and put like a big 200mm fan there.

As far as cable management, after looking there's not a whole lot of 'modding' I could do, but was thinking of getting some sleeving and cable clamp brackets. And if I have time/money I was thinking of just doing a basic paint color change. Kind of tired of the traditional black/blue combo.

i just took a dremel to an old nes.
parts i got from newegg & amazon.

btw, it's been on its final touches for a year, i really need to finish it.

Lot of people make the mistake of adding way to many noisy fans that only acts as a good vacuum cleaner. I clean my case once a month, I use to have cases with all the bells and whistles now Im only interested in max memory on my beast more the merrier. My goal is 12mg im not far away from that now
i stuffed it all in a tiny case heat is not a issue my comp is never turned off runs 24/7 all year long. I build and sell items on Second Life a very high demanding online (Game) as far as computers go that is. Second life dont work well with Walmart Computers haha better have some power in your box to see whats cool there for sure. I find that having lots of memory the things you can do as far as memory hungry programs dont affect preformance a bit.
And a good video card is important as well :)
