Can't reinstall Windows?

Recently got my rig back from a repair shop with Ubuntu installed as I couldn't find my Windows license key but now I can't reinstall Windows.

I have a small SSD which Windows was installed on before & a 1TB HDD.. when I boot from the CD/DVD drive in order to install I'm told that there isn't enough free space on the SSD.. I've tried formatting/deleting the files on that drive multiple times & each time it reports success but whenever I try to install there isn't enough free space? & I can't install to the HDD as it's formatted to whatever the Linux disk system is.

How do I go about solving this?

Thanks.

When you boot from the Windows media, go to the list of drives, click on your SSD, delete all partitions, then create a new partition and format.

Thanks for the reply.. I've just tried exactly what you suggest, unfortunately Windows reports some generic 0x800 error almost immediately in the install proceedure.
Can't work out why when I reboot Linux, all the old Windows files/folders are back on the drive.. I've manually deleted them under Linux & deleted the drive with the Windows install disk.

Is the drive faulty perhaps?

Well your not deleting them if they still show. If your installing on the SSD, unhook the other drive. When you boot to the windows DVD, at the hard drive page, pick any partitions and delete them. Then format the drive.

Done that & get some generic 0x800 error when I attempt to install.. It's looking increasingly like the drive needs replacing to me, but I'm reluctant as money is extremely tight & as far as the Linux Disk Utility is concerned the 'Disk is healthy'

Not many hits on error code 0x800. I would download killdisk or dban to totally wipe the drive and try reinstalling. What brand of drive do you have? You can try using the drive manufacturers disk diagnostic program to test the hard drive. Also, have you tested the ram using memtest?

Remove all hardware that is not absolutely essential for operation. Leave only 1 stick of RAM and the HDD you are installing on plus other essentials, reset the BIOS and try again.

Simple fix.. SSD was faulty, put in a new one & hey presto everything is fine.. feel a bit stupid now & wish I'd have thought of that before I wasted money at the repair shop.

C'est la vie.. I would say you live & learn but that wouldn't be accurate with me, at least not usually.
Many thanks to all here who tried to help.
