Hey guys, I just got these nice speakers, but i'm having a problem with getting digital sound to work. I can't get dolby digital or dts to work with my dvd!! It supports dts and dolby (written on the front of the dvd) I read the product manual and all it said was to make sure a coaxial or optical cable is plugged in at both ends.

So this is what I have:
Logitech z-5500 5.1 digital speakers - lcd control panel set to 6-ch direct
recoton 6ft digital coaxial (stereo audio cable)
Toshiba dvd player (sd-3860)

I've tried this with several movies which support either dolby digital or dts. In every case all I get is prologic II. The strange thing is when I started Black Hawk down, while the opening scene plays with the movie distributor(women holding the torch), the lcd screen reads digital. But once the intro screen pops up, it switches to stereo ???? Anyone have any suggestions?:(

Id also like to add I read logitechs section on how to get digital to work with your dvd player. I checked diagnostic mode, and the stream reads as
D 2/0 48, so its not in pcm mode. The only thing I can think is perhaps my coaxial cable? Im really not sure...

Is this on a computer? If so -

Do you have the SPDIF hooked from your drive to your sound card? it's a little 2 prong cable for the digital audio.

If not -
Did you set the audio in your dvd menu? Some DVD palyers allow you to set the default audio stream in the menu of the DVD player itself
