Can't create Network

I have a Cable modem, a D-Link 624 router.

I am connecting the modem to the router using ethernet cable. Then on the router; from lan 1 to the ethernet plug on the back of my pc. I have run the setup for the router. But I still can't connect to the net. Any help please?

does the pc recognize the network and router (can you get something typing 192.168.whatever in your browser) but not connect outside of the network? If so, try cloning the pc's MAC address in the router options, had to do this back at home cause the ISP wanted extra $ for a networked home and used MAC's in this regard, but what they don't know won't hurt them

yes, i could access the 192.x.x.x, and in the setup i have tried cloning hte mac address. the setup works, but then i cant even use the net.

that's weird, double check things like automatically obtaining an IP and DNS, enable DHCP, anything else that can be automatically configured. I had to manually setup the Belkin I mentioned earlier cause of the whole not connecting thing

Some CABLE companies require you to give the MAC address of the router/modem to them for it to be enabled. Check with your ISP.
