Cant access folders HELP!

Okay, so I've shared my C Drive on "My Network Places." I can access the folders in my c drive but only to a certain extent. I am having problems accessing the documents and setting portion. I can get into the documents and settings folder but cant open any of the user folders. Everytime i try i get the following error msg:

\\Vaio\C\Documents and Settings\SkY is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

Thanks in advance for the much needed help.

The user you are using to access the folder seems to have limited permission, log in as admin and right click the folder and permitt all users to have full access to the folder.

What windows version are you using? This will help telling how to grant all users the permissions.

I have the same problem, i think it has something to do with when your setting up your account on xp, when you set your files to private, what you can do is share a folder inside the documents and settings folder (ex. the desktop folder).

Then you must have made the folders as private as mentioned before. When you mark a folder as private, other users can't access it even an administrator. You will have to log in with every user and remove the privacy from the folders made. This can be done by right clicking the folder, properties and then sharing, you will find the "Make this folder private" uncheck it.

I would say just create a new folder in the root of the C:\ drive. Windows XP limits who can connect to any folders in c:\documents and settings\any directory. It is a security feature of xp home. Use a different folder that is not in this directory or a sub directory of it.

You can turn it off on XP pro by double clicking on my computer>tools>folder options>click on the view tab. Scroll all the way down and uncheck use simple file sharing. Not sure how it works on home edition.
