cant access 192.168.1.1

Hi!

I have a Linksys WRT54G that I installed yesterday.

Everything works fine, wireless, etc...
Except for one thing: ITS NOT SECURE, so I wanted to put a password on the network.

I opened up an explorer windows, typed 192.168.1.1... TIMEOUT.
Everytime.... I tried different ips, not working..

Im entering it on an Ethernet connected computer, not wirelessly...

So how could i get it secured??

You deffo sure thats the gateway?

If not open command prompt and type ipconfig then hit enter.
That should give you the router gateway.

It depends, they are different with each company, but usually its one of the following:

192.168.0.1
192.168.1.1
192.168.2.1 (thats what mine is)
192.168.10.1

It should be 192.168.1.1 but try accessing it on the wireless computer.

If that doesn't work, then try resetting the router. And if that doesn't work, then you will have to re-install the software.

So you've tried accessing the router from a computer that is directly attached to it through an Ethernet cable?

Resetting the router then type in 192.168.1.1 ....
