i do not have an microphone connected but everytime i try to record a voice it is not silent, i can actually hear everything...so this creates feedback when i plug my real microphone in. could it be the moniter? i have a samsung syncMaster 712N. please can somone help?

it plugs into the tower, however delivers a really loud feedback when i try recordin with the mic jacked in. so im suspecting that the mic is probably on the motherboard? or moniter..ai...so hard to find it.!

possibly not. unless its in the tower, which is really odd. well, is that feedback consistent? or random? and the mic input is on the motherboard i presume. do you know what your motherboard is called by any chance?

and are your mic port configured in your sound settings?

Well try turning the +20db gain on the mic record or more likely turn down the volume of mic playback :)

try turning your speakers off

feedback is a loop formed between mic and micplayback (aka speakers). Two mics active at the same time won't do squat
