canned air

I used to buy canned air (compressed air) every 4-6 months to get any accumulation of dust out of my PC. But now I have an air compressor. I've got the compressor and my friend has hoses and I still have to get attachments for it. But it's 135 PSI (a rather small compressor). Would that still be too strong for blowing the inside of the PC? Thx.

If there is any way to turn down the psi then yeah, it will be fine. But that high of pressure can do damnage. You may just want to go back to using compressed air can.

Gotcha. I've never used it. That's why I thought I'd ask first.

I think its to much pressure and would not use it. Then again if you have to buy attachments then just get this. Its worked for years and all kinds of attachments.
Its good for this job and others. DataVac https://www.metrovacworld.com/DataVac_Electric_Duster

I'll check it out, thanks.

Im sure i paid a lot less than that. Check around.

Will do. BTW, video is kinda funny, especially at the end when they play whatever that music, EDM, or whatever:D

And I didn't even know those cans hurt the environment. I'm a fairly green guy, so I might have to add this to my list of things to get. However, we don't have dust accumulation in our house nearly as frequently as where I used to live. Here we don't have forced air. In my old house, we did. So, I'm fairly surprised with how clean it is inside the PC when I open it up. Still, it's good preventative maintenance.

I'd use a more coarse nozzle if possible, or you could always use it from a farther distance to lessen the effective pressure against the components.

30-40PSI will be fine.

Yeah, I think the DataVac mentioned said 70 PSI. If you watch the video, it looks a lot stronger in terms of "blow-power" than using a can of compressed air.

What do you mean by coarse nozzle? Is that a specific kind of nozzle for the end of the hose attached to air compressors? I honestly don't know.

If you can't lower the pressure, just make sure you are farther away from the components when you go to clean them.

The only thing u can really damage with high pressure is fans. Never try blowing a fan out by letting the blades spin. Bad idea! Hold the blades still. Other than that I wouldn't worry about it.

I have cleaned my desktop and others out numerous times with 100psi +

It's strange you say that, cuz a friend of mine is an auto mechanic and I asked him before starting this thread if I could turn down the air on my compressor. He said I could simply not squeeze the handle quite all the way, but also mentioned not to blow the air on the fans. And he doesn't do any of his own DIY stuff when it comes to computers, so I don't know how he knew to say that.
