i have a xfi supremefx card, got it from work... it was taken from a maximus formula 2 motherboard. i have an asus m3n78-vm mobo. can i use it on my mobo? i heard it cant be done, but are there any drivers that will work with it anyways?

It depends on the actual layout of the card. Some "bundled" motherboard riser cards are actually fully capable standalone PCI-e cards. Quite a few, however, use a proprietary slot (even if it is PCI/PCI-e based) along with additional components on the motherboard.

Plug it in and try it. A sure sign of it not working will be if you can't get it to fit into a standard PCI/PCI-e slot. From what I can tell of the Maximus motherboard and the card, it sure looks like a PCI-e 1x card and slot. Your next quest would be for the proper drivers.

i have the slot. ive put it in before. windows sees there is new hardware, but doesnt know what it is, and ive had issues finding drivers for it that arent for the formula motherboard

i was pretty much hoping someone in here knew a way around it

Sorry, I was unclear in my prior post. What I meant to convey was, try the audio drivers listed under the Formula board, not the whole driver package.
