250w psu
40 gb western digital

Power supply in a dell probably wont run it. It really isnt worth upgrading something older like that, do you have the model number of the computer? You may have a PCI-E slot and not an AGP slot.

its a dell gx270 (mini tower)

its a dell gx270 (mini tower)just dont wanna get rid of conputer as its a good conputer speshilly for my needs it does wat it says on the tin lol

I think that 250w psu will struggle like mentioned.

I ran a 9600 pro 256mb in my old Hp system...it had a 250w power supply and i swapped it out for a 400w.

Come to think of it....i still have my 9600 AGP in its origional box lol.

Those mini towers would require a slim graphics card. It may just be time to save up and build yourself a new system.

If your system already does what you need it too..then why do you need a gfx card?

As good as the 9600 card is for its age,Its not going to handle many games very good these days :)

Especially if you plan on upgrading to vista or windows 7, i have a laptop with an X600 in it(9600 on a pci express bus) and it was crazy to get it to work in windows 7.

darbz1987,If you tell us what you intend to do with having a dedicated card then we might be able to find a suitable low profile card...but you may still need to upgrade that psu.

Didnt know that...so the 9600 still lives on :D,I actualy realy did like my 9600 pro it was a solid card at the time.

Played Doom 3 and Warrock very well.

my conputer is the bigest version of the 3 so dont think i need a low profile card an psu i was told dat a atx psu wont go in my dell tower?an it will run on vista with low settings right?thanks

It might work in vista, but it is a major pain to get it to run. When you said micro i thought you meant the slimline case, so then you should be able to fit it. Dell used alot of proprietary power supplies and if i recall correctly, the GX270 also had a proprietary power supply unit.

Is it this one? from the back looks like he can indeed fit a regular card in it.

You wouldnt want a power supply off ebay anyhow. A quality unit would be made by one of the following:

Antec, BFG, Corsair,Enermax, FSP, Pc Power&Cooling, Seasonic, Tagan, Thermaltake, OCZ, Xclio, Zalman,
