can pc2-6400 be installed on a machine that use pc2-5300?

I was seeking a a pc2 5300 all this time... wanted buffalo firestix but wont have pc2-5300 avalible... wanted crucial ballistix but hard to find the pc2-5300....

so really??? i can install pc2-6400? will it have side effect?
 
No it wont run hotter, its will be running below spec. so in all it might run cooler. If the voltage is set to auto it will drop the voltage for what ever the SPD is on the Ram for 677 speed instead of 800.
