Can I use cable modem and DSL modem on same computer?

I am moving in a month. I currently have DSL service. I will be without internet service for two weeks when I move because of the line having to be configured for DSL. I am going to have cable internet service for that one week. When the tech installs the cable modem on my computer, will it mess up the DSL modem that is installed? I want to leave the DSL modem installed and then in two weeks disconnect the cable modem and service and hook the DSL modem back up and have DSL service. Will I have any problems?

It's ethernet. I just spoke to the tech guy at the cable company and said there shouldn't be a problem. He said I may have to change a few settings when I switch over. I just didn't want a big headache. I have had enough headaches in organizing everything for the move.

Yeah, there might be a few IP settings that need changing, but usally modems have DHCP and will enter all the settings for you.

You should be fine if all you're doing is switching from cable to dsl. In some cases, depending on your modem, it could be capable of being used as a dsl modem or cable modem.

If you have certain configurations on your TCP/IP settings for your line right now, you should write it down for future reference so everything is easier to setup when you switch back. As for the new cable setup, most cases are that they'll set the TCP/IP settings to automatic detect on both the ip settings and dns to get you online first.
