Hi all, my old computer was custom built 3years ago and when moving house the desktop cassing was damaged but i could still use the computer and still function well, however its embarrasing when friends comes over and my desktop looks hideous lol

Ok ive taken out my sata HD 160GB Western Digital and i want to use it on my new computer.

New computer already has its own HD and what i want to do is boot from my old HD. When i connected the 2 HD's together it picks up my new HD and my old one more like an external HD, BUT... what i want to know is my old HD has all my programs, fonts, games etc and when i want to boot it from old HD it wont boot? Reason i ask this question is that i have so many programs etc already loaded on old HD but dont want to re-install everything onto new HD as i know it will take me weeks to do.

My new computer is a HP 2.8 PENTIUM 4 XP PRO its not the best but is good for now :o

Thanks in advance.

You can't boot from the old hard drive because it was setup for your old computer with all the necessary drivers. Any programs will have to be reinstalled on the new machine. You can copy personal data over with no issues though.
