Hello,

I wanna ask a question about my PC. My PC is:

COMPAQ Presario SR2163WM(RK545AA)
Pentium 4 631(3.0GHz)
512MB DDR2
160GB
ATI Radeon Xpress 1100 Integrated
Windows Vista Home Basic

It takes up to 2 GB memory. And I wanna install vista ultimate which is I guess of 4 GB. Can I still install it? Or what should I do?

HP has not listed Windows7 as an option for drivers on your -> Support Page
Generally if a computer can run Vista it should be able to run Windows7
But you should bring your "512MB DDR2" up to 2Gig first

Yes it should work

You can install vista because the minimum RAM for vista is 512 MB, but I dont think anyone will be going for vista unless he has atleast 2GB of RAM. If u can afford that, then go for it. If you can go for higher RAM, its great, cause with vista 64 bit, the higher the RAM, the better the speed.

The 4 GB myth surrounding vista 64 bit is because vista 32 bit cannot handle all the 4 GB of RAM(which is the maximum supported by it). It ends up showing around 3.25 GB of available RAM. But 64 bit utilizes all of the RAM. Thats it.

Yeah exactly what sshaggy said...you realy want to upgrade that ram to get any decent performance out of Vista.

Im not sure how well that intergrated graphics will be good for aero though..

why install vista? do you really like this windows? because i hate it. stick to xp, or last xp..something like that. :)

To all of you :)

But I already have windows Vista, I just wanna upgrade it from Home Basic to Ultimate. And my Ram is 2 GB Already. Can I upgrade it to Ultimate with having 2GB memory in my PC?
