Can Bitmap Image files carry viruses? I know there could be files like picture.bmp.exe or something like that, but I am talking exactly about Bitmap Image files.

In theory - yes. If a hacker analyze some graphic program then he can found "buffer overflow" situation and can create graphic file with exploit. And when you open this file in this program it will run executable code.

There was "jpeg exploit" in 2004.
