Cable Modem

So this was not a issue on my last place but it is a issue with my current the only difference is my last house had old lines + comcast modem....the new one has 1 year old lines + Motorola mediacom modem.

Old place I could dl/ul at 90% with no lag issues.

New house if I pass 30% upload and 50% download I will notice network lag and the gamer girl next to me will start saying "Omg look at my MS its YELLOW" :P

I am curious the only thing really changed is ISP + Cable Modem.

Could this cause the issue? I was curious since if it does id gladly buy my own modem but in the past Comcast it was easier to rent theirs for 3$ a month.

Could also be a cabling issue inside the house, i pretty much ran all new RG6 lines inside this house, due to all the old lines being RG59(not good at all for internet). And then about 6 months ago they finally came and ran a new drop of RG6 with a solid support wire, the old line was a stranded support wire and rg59 that was 15+ years old and damaged in multiple places.

Well the house is less then 2 years old...the entire area is brand new. I get 98% of the promised speeds so the lines are good.

My old house was maybe 50 years old...lines were old I got maybe 75% of the "theoretical" speed without the problem issues I experience now.

Reason I was curious if a modem could be the issue or the ISP. I dislike the idea I can't use ul/dl past 50% without lagging other users on my network...makes updates such as WoW a real pain.

Hmm, probably either the modem then. Just have then reissue a new one and say the current one keeps restarting or something;)
