Cable modem/Router difficulties

When my cable modem is connect directly to my pc it works great. When it is hooked to my Belkin router it works for about 4 hrs, then looses connection.

I have tried a few ideas trying to isolate the problem.
I purchased a new cable modem, and plugged into the router. Worked for for a few hours, then looses connection.
So the cable modem is not causing the problem. I plan on returning the Cable modem, and getting a new wireless router and seeing if it has the same issue.

If it does, I am going to have to say it has something to do with the cable company (which won't fix anything), and purchase another network card and ICS to my roomates computer.

Is this the best solution? Have I missed something?
 
that sounds like a router problem....my linksys wrt54g never loses a connection.. probably not a cable company problem because you said it works alright when it is connected to the computer.
