I am thinking of buying a new sub and speakers for my computer cause i think i blew the subwoofer on my logitech z-5500 setup. i am thinking of getting this subwoofer http://www.circuitcity.com/rpsm/oid/80161/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do#tabs

is this a good one is there any better ones around this price range. and i want to get a 5.1 speaker setup im thinnking of spending $200 max for the speakers. also will the sub work with my computer? do i need a special hookup of some kind?

Well, i wouldnt get that. You want to get a subwoofer that your amp can over power. Since the stock sub on your z-5500 puts out 188Watts, i would go with a sub thats about 200W or so.

what do you mean go with an actual sub. the one i posted is a sub. and what is wrong with it. wont it work with my computer.

see thats your problem... the amp comes with the sub

Im talking about approach it the car audio way... get a sub (or 2 perferably) put them in a box yourself (make it urself if you have the skills and matierals) and buy and amp and hook it all up urself.... then you can take some pride in your sound and in your computer

just my 2 cents

would you guys be able to put together a system that has a lot of bass and is good for highs and lows. all i use it for is playing counterstrike and watching movies and music and i like a lot of bass. can you make it either the car audio way or a home system way doesnt matter it just has to hook up to my computer and the price range would be $500-$700. im sorry for all the questions and everthing i just dont know much about audio stuff. thanks for the help.

have to be surround sound, or is a 2.1 system sufficient?

5.1 would be nice but if that doesnt work i can always get more speakers down the road if i cant fit it into budget.

actually never mind on that thing for my computer. i was thinking of getting some subs and speakers for a car and just use those and hook them up up to my tv downstairs. and then just do that and when i get a car put them in my car. would that work? doesnt have to be 5.1 it will just be used for music. and the brand would have to be kicker for the subs and some good quality speakers. the subs have to be 600 a piece or up to 1200 total for 2 or one. but the amp doesnt have to be power them fully at first. i dont know the budget on this so can you guys build something and see what you come up with. price doesnt matter right now and would this all work or will there be compatibiluty issues? thanks for the help.

I can help you out with your problem cause im into car audio tough but go to sounddomain.com if you really want to learn alot...dont go with kicker subs that are gona cost you 600 a piece thats just crazy...first of all the are probably really high powered which means to even get an amp close to their power rating would cost you way over 500 more dollars... second of all not to bust on your skills but unless you have bin in the business of car audio for awile you wont kno what to do with subs that good...third subs that cost 600 a piece are probably loud as fcuk and unless your used to listening to subs you wont be able to take it.... forth you dont want to over power you other speakers with to much bass....i have 2 12" type R and the bass definately cancles out the music its it too loud....but if your serious about this let me know i can find you something good for a low budget

actually i have a friend that is selling his kicker subs that are 1600 a piece they are 12'' subs and he has a 600 watt amp kicker hooked up to it and he will sell it to me with everything i need for $350. now i need some good high quality speakers for a car or truck 100 watts each just need two of them. and i need everything to hook up to a tv so i can use them there cause i dont have a car yet.
