Buying a new computer

so i was thinking of spending about $6000 on the fully custimized alienware m17x for gaming an my programming and all that with full upgrades to computer that is allowed on site so it comes to about 6 grand is there a better computer for that moeny i can get thats a laptop?

$6000.... I can buy a server for less. That sounds like a lot of bread man alienware has a reputation for over charging. their support sucks... and their computers aren't that great (at least in reflection of the cost) How much is the computer w/o support... and what are the specs.
