Building a computer

hey peeps, the noob is back (me) and i have another question for you all.
I'm still getting round to building my first computer and i was just wondering...
I have been inside a computer and taken stuff out and put new stuff in, but what i haven't done and what i am unsure about is putting in the mobo, i know its gotta be screwed in and stuff, but the wires that connect to the case are a different matter...
how do i know which spot to plug them into. I have looked at the wire arrangement in my comp and it didnt look too hard with all of the labeling and stuff. But then i checked out an older spare (and broken) mobo and it didn't have all of the same labeling, like it didn't have as many and was missing some.
so does the mobo manual tell me what to do or something?

hope this made sense, sorry if it didn't if i didn't explain properly let me know and i will try again when i am less tired :D

thanks a ton in advance (chances are i will forget to thank you guys when the time arises) :P

cheers

The case will have the wires marked. And all new motherboards have the pins marked. And the manual will have the layout too.

oh sweet thanks! so it won't be too complicated then? i can't wait to build it! :)
hopefully just after Christmas i will have it done.

I'm thinkin of getting an AMD athlon II quad core. they don't seem too bad for the price tag, $121 (in Australian dollars)

and also for buying RAM theres a brand called crucial, and they seem pretty good and stuff, any clue if thats worth putting my money into?

cheers

thanks for that advice...
what exactly is a 1394?
and is the usb headers the thing that is on the mobo where the USBs get plugged into?

cheers

you should read first the manual before doing anything just to make sure you don't do anything wrong. If you can't understand the terms, there's always google
