ok i finally decided to take the time and post this. I am building a computer from scratch and i want it to be a gaming machine. For now i can only spend around 400 possibly 450 on parts so i was thinking i would get these parts:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131530
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814121540
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16899888207
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817148027
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822148040
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16837102141
I want to know if that PSU will be enough to support a computer (i will also be getting a dvd burner,a cd drive and possibly a better video card later). I also want to know if all the parts are good brands and if im missing anything (other than memory)

Everything seems to look good to me.
I admit not to be as experienced in this area as most, but you've got ASUS motherboard, as far as I know AsUs are very good.
You can always upgrade your graphics, etc. Looks good to me though.

*advice*
1 gig is mandatory for gaming pcs.

yes im going to get http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145440
eventually and i might get
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814125156
or
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130214
and
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811144001
but for now all i can spend is 400 USD . Oh one more thing i want to be able to do is hook this up to a tv. I see it has one of those yellow A/v jacks on the motherboard and the video cards have an adapter that changes that weird looking port into A/V

Seems that your missing a CPU?
Very much worth getting the 6600gt now as opposed to getting it later and spending the money on the x700.
Check your tv and see what kind of input connectors are onm the back, you should be able to go svideo or possibly a dsub or dvi?
Psu look ok per the specs.

http://www.coolerguys.com/chameleon.html
and
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824197010

thats why we have PSU 101. ;)

Well did you mention it or not? ;) :p

how about this <http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814133134> video card? i
The card I picked is several orders of magnitude superior in every possible way.

i also want a mouse and keyboard to match my case so is this package <http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.process?Product=4044578> any good?
I only deal with performance related stuff hence you dont often see me reccomending cases ,lights, speaker or all that bling bling crap. :)

ok i'm going to say logitech is a pretty good company
For the most part they are pretty good .. gotta watch some of their stuff however, it can be overpriced though (cuz of their market power) ... i.e., joysticks and such :)

yeah i got this $100 keyboard/controller combo for playstation 2 from them and it broke real easy. i think if you stick under $50 there stuff is good and everything i've bought thats over that is bad.
video card $140
windows xp $89
motherboard $70
CPU $131
hard drive $62
anti-static band (i would be to nervous working on $500 worth of parts without it) $6
$498 woo hoo!
-30 for the mail in rebate $468
and later i will get
a stick of $74 memory and
a $46 case
$588 lets hope nothings missing
EDIT: i had to jinx myself. power supply $65
and while i'm at it more stuff for later
I need a cd burner why not make it a dvd burner $39
forgot to put the keyboard and mouse in there $35
ok that should be good if my dvd burner gets lonely i have a dvd player i can paint black and stick in there and i have a monitor (only 13" but thats a problem for another day).
thats 563 i can afford that
and $194 later
oh what a marry christmas it will be for me :) and i might be able to get some of that other stuff like the memory and case right away too.
now i just need to figure out a way to buy a cheap/free game that will occupy me until i can start to buy some good games. maybe some ps2 emulator or something

ok I changed some things and I have a question now:
instead of this: http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.process?Product=4044578
im getting this and this
and im changing the case to a better one since i don't have to buy windows xp (i have the cd from something i did before) and so i chose http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811133132 is it easy to change the lights from blue to green in that and what would be the best way to put a lcd in there maybe just to show tempuratures or if its easy and cheap something that could do that cool bar equalizer thing for the music while im playing games
EDIT: oh and these speakers i dont know if i put them in here before but here they are
