Build Your Own Computer Kits

Hey guys,

I am interested in learning more about computer hardware, and what is actually going on inside of the computer. What each piece does, how they communicate etc.

I was wondering if there are any computer kits that I could buy that include all of the necessary parts to make a computer, all wrapped individually as to force the individual to connect each and every part. Possibly including screws and a mini screw driver, literally a box that I can open and sit in a room and build the entire computer, including a operating system that would have to be installed by the user. Ideally, this kit would include step by step directions that explain what each and every part does and how to connect them all together.

Please let me know if this exists!

If it doesn't exist, would you consider it a good business opportunity? Because it would provide a fun, educational, hands-on experience in learning how everything in the computer works together, and how it does it.

It might. I've never heard of it but others around here may have. I can almost guarantee you though that it will cost more to buy a "kit" than it would to just order the individual parts that you need and go from there. As for how to actually build the computer, there's hundreds of guides on the matter all over the internet. One of which is in my signature below.

Thanks for the feedback Darren. Why would it have to be more expensive to buy a kit? Do such kits even exist? It may be worth it to alleviate concerns that specific parts all work together properly.

About the only kits suppliers have are called Barebones kits and usually they aren't a complete system. Usually just cpu, motherboard, ram or some other misc parts.

If you need help determining what is compatible all you have to do is ask.

The problem with kits, is that most people who build computers want them build with the exact parts they want. With kits, there's likely to be a chance where the buyer would rather have a different video card, or more RAM, or a larger SSD, etc., which makes it hard to market PC's that have all the parts in a box for the customer to put together. If someone can build a computer, than picking out the components themselves is easy.
