Broken speakers??

Hi. Got some problems with my Creative Labs Inspire T7900 speakers, mostly in the volume control. Only running 2 speakers on it (even though these are 7.1 speakers) and of course the subwoofer but recently (over the past year or so) the volume control has gotten really sensitive, so whenever I move it just a bit it either blares out of the speakers or it goes so quiet you can't hear it. Is this easy to repair if so how do I go about doing it or should I just throw them out and get a new pair? Thanks.

If you can open the speakers up the volume control could do with a slight spray of wd40.
sounds like the volume control pot has dry connections.
