I've had several blue screens today and these were the details given to me after the computer restarted.

At the moment I only blue screen when I start playing games. LoL and WoW - and it blue screens when I'm in the actual game, not in the log in screens/loading screens.

Also, this is a custom computer my friends created for me and in the past they've got a few bluescreens - but much less frequent then what is happening now.

Thanks for the help!

Since it only happens when you play games, try going to device manager and look through your hardware for a red X on any of the hardware. This can show hardware which is having problems, disabled or with bad/missing drivers.

And have you had any issues with your hard drive? Have you seen messages popping up from the system tray saying that you need to run checkdisk because there are bad sectors on the hard drive?

What OS are you running and let us know the build, build date, and whether you have had to replace parts (if custom), or the make/model/year of your computer if from a major manufacturer (like dell for instance).

I'm running on windows 7.

Device manager shows zero problems.

They just bought all the parts from newegg roughly 2 weeks ago, so no replacement parts.

I also haven't seen any problems saying that i need to run checkdisk.

Also: some of the messages on the bluescreen

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL -> This appears after playing the games.

win32k.sys -> This appeared when I got a blue screen when I was going through a couple webpages.

since I have to be headed to work now I'm gonna throw this Johnb35's way so he can check up on it if needed.

I think it sounds like a graphics card driver problem. I'd try to get the latest driver and install it. If this doesnt work, or you are already on the latest driver version, and the version you are using was released very recently, then I would step back to a previous version release and see if that helps.

Since you just bought it I'm betting OS/Driver problem.

What are your full system specs?

I would tend to agree with gamblingman that it will be either a driver/OS issue, or possibly a memory issue

I went to nvidia and DL'd the latest version that I could and uninstalled/reinstalled LoL. When I got into the game it flashed a blue screen for half a second and the computer restarted, I had no time to read it.

By full system specs I meant:

Motherboard manufacturer/model
memory manufacturer/model
Video card manufacturer/model
Power supply, manufacturer/model
Hard drive manufacturer/model

you can find out all of this except for the hard drive and PSU using Speccy or CPUz. CPUz you can download from here:

ftp://ftp.cpuid.com/cpu-z/cpu-z_1.57.1-setup-en.exe

To find your hard drive manufacturer and model:

1. Open up Computer
2. Right click C:\ drive and click poperties
3. Click the Hardware tab
4. It will list all of your storage devices, all hard drives, SSD's and optical drives. List them here too.

To find your PSU, take the side off your case and look at the sticker on the side of the power supply

Bout to go eat dinner.

When I get back I'll post the stuff you asked for, and sorry for not understanding that earlier - not as tech savvy as my friends and just went to dxdiag.

Probably looked in the wrong place but this is what I got:

TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-222AB ATA Device
WDC WD5000AVDS-63U7B1 ATA Device

I only saw those two. To get to those I opened computer right clicked Local Disk (C: ) then went to properties and then there they were in hardware.

Powersupply manufacturer/model:

RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-730SS 730W ATX12V V2.2/ EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular Modular LED Power Supply

Thanks for the help!

The possibility I see right away is that you are using a cheap psu in the raidmax. A good 730 watt modular psu would run you around $100. I'm not saying this is your issue but it would be the first thing to change out and see if the blue screens continue.

Blah, 100. lol already spent 900, but my friend agrees that it was a cheapy that he grabbed.

but, we also got WoW to run when I started to stream it off of my external hard drive and it's been working fine for over an hour.

Not quite sure what that changes, but it might be important. What do you guys think?

As always - thanks for the help!

Download memtest from here:

http://www.memtest.org/download/4.20/memtest86+-4.20.iso.zip

and burn it to a disc as a bootable CD, then boot from it. Let it run on the default settings for as long as you can spare. Overnight would be the best option, as it will allow you to use your system in the mean time, and/or do more tests.

Also, test your hard drive. Download the Western Digital diagnostics tool (for future reference, you have a WD drive. You should always use the diagnostics tool from the manufacturer) from here:

http://download.wdc.com/windlg/WinDlg_122.zip

install and run it to test your hard drive.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817153106&Tpk=thermaltake black widow

Gave up on the computer for a while, but now I'm back at it. (Started my summer job. Am a college kid so been workin hard.)

Anywho, posted a PSU. I was told earlier that my PSU was something I should look at first - and this is something a friend recommended I get.

Thoughts?

Also started a scan on the disk drive from the program from the previous post. The quick scan showed no problems, but still waiting on the extended scan.

EDIT: Btw, what makes my raidmax psu bad compared to the black widow i posted, or any other decent psu? Not that I don't believe, just want a learning experience. :D

Raidmax is just a cheaply made psu. With yours being a 730 watt modular psu, you should expect to pay close to $100 or more for that, not $59

Alright, I'll take your word for it.

Anyways, finished up that extended scan and it passed all the tests.
I get my paycheck on friday and then I'll buy a new PSU over the weekend.

When my buddy puts it in we'll test it out and I'll post what happens. It's a good thing I have my laptop to pass the time.

Thanks for the help, cya next next weekend.
