blowing a speaker

recently blew my sub on a set of speakers however it blew running from its own amp this shouldnt happen and should be covered in warrenty shouldnt it?

You can try returning it. I highly doubt any retail speakers are designed to run flat out for considerable periods of time. My expensive hifi speakers come in two versions - one for normal listening and one for the headbangers who want continuous loud volume.
