Bit of Speaker Help?

I've been meaning for a while to get some new speakers but I only have got round to it now. Been doing a lot of looking around reading reviews.
So far I have pretty much narrowed it down to the Logitech z-4 2.1s. Does everybody think this is a good choice? Don't really want to spend more than 50 quid, unless the sound quality is dramatically better.
However from reading a few posts in other places, some people seem to talk about needing new sound cards. How do I tell if the sound card I have at the moment would be sufficient for my speakers?

Cheers

I think as long as your sound card says it supports 2.1 then it should be fine. Make sure, if you get 5.1 speakers that the card supports it and the same for 7.1. I'm not an expert at this stuff, but it's pretty much common sense though.

Someone else might could offer some more info than I can.

If you link the card and speakers then that might help too. ;)

I've seen those speakers but never heard them... People keep destroying them in the stores (exposed speakers at Target = not a good idea). But I don't see any reason you'd really need to upgrade your sound card. Those should use basic analog out, so I guess it really depends on how much of an audiophile you are. Get them, try them, and if your not pleases, you could always upgrade the sound card later. For the most part, though, today's built in soundcards are pretty fair for normal use.
