ok this is kind of a complicated situation but anyone that responds thank you alot. first of all i have a dell laptop with a wireless pci card. i have a desktop computer in the basement with a cable modem and a router. i am about to purchase the logitech z5500 speakers. i dont have a sound card except for a headphone jack and mic in on my laptop however. soundblaster makes one for a laptop but my wireless card already fills the slot. do i need a soundcard for the z5500s, which have 5.1 and dolby digital features, and if so what kind of set up would i need? Thanks alot

U dont necissarily neec a new sound card. You can plug it into the headphone jack and your sound would be fine. But you wouldnt have true 5.1. The sound coming out of the speakers would be the same for all the speakers. The left side would all sound the same as would the right. A sound card would actually use the 5.1 and all the speakers would have different sound coming out of them. ALso about the wireless, you might need to swith to usb.
