However you don't really gain too much, and in some instances it may go down.
.I hear its a 1.8ghz P4 equivalent, lol.
According to Creative, the Xtreme Fidelity Engine is like having the power of a second 3.4GHz processor (more than 10,000MIPS) built into the PC that was dedicated just to audio! That's enough additional power to process more than 10 Billion instructions per second!

The X-Fi came out when the Pentium 4 era was around, and they most likely refer to that, just like how all games around the same time always said "requires 2.8Ghz CPU or better".Yes, but 3.4ghz means nothing. 3.4ghz core2duo? 3.4ghz PII? 3.4ghz ARM7tdmi?
Of course there can be an increase with the addition of a sound card, because theres the CPU no longer has to process the audio, it now goes to a dedicated processor on the sound card. This is much more evident however in games where the CPU is the bottleneck. You most likely wont see any difference with a high end processor, especially a dual/quad core.I don't thonk there can be increase in the fps in games by using a xi-fi sound blaster sound card. It will increase the performance of your speakers let it be of any model or size. Anybody having knowledge about it then please share to help increase mine.
