Recently intel released its latest roadmap schedule for next year here: http://www.brightsideofnews.com/new...-3970k-coming-in-q42c-i7-4900-in-q3-2013.aspx
so what would be the better buy?

6 core

or

Quad core

I know 6 core is not supported in games yet ,but within the next year they might be ... so should i buy the i7 3930k or 3820? I will be building my pc in febuary, but i was wanting to know what would be the better buy so i could get my pc to last the longest?

Pros and Cons?

Thanks in advance.....:cool::):):cool:

The cheaper 3820. When games/more programs do actually use more than 4 cores, this architectural for CPUs will be considered slow. Better to buy cheaper now and save money to upgrade in the future.

And just to clarify,

3820 is 4 cores and 8 threads.
3930k is 6 cores and 12 threads.

You should buy neither. What you should buy is a 3770K. It's a quad-core with 8 threads just like the 3820, so it's going to be good for a long while yet, however it's faster than a 3820 at stock and the 3770K can also be overclocked, whereas the 3820 cannot really as it is not multiplier unlocked. Boards for the 3770K are also much cheaper (it's Socket 1155, not 2011 like the 3820 and 3930K), so really the 3770K ends up being faster than the 3820 and quite a bit cheaper too.

8 threads are going to serve you well for a long while yet, no need to spend the extra on the hex-cores. I'd get yourself a 3770K, a nice aftermarket cooler and a good Z77 board and then overclock it - and you'll be happy for a long while yet I reckon.

A 3820 can easily be overclocked too.

It can but why bother spending the extra when the 3770K overclocks better and easier?

That's right, but I think he's looking to buy next gen E-bridges after a year. So he needs that mobo.

I don't think it'd really be necessary to upgrade a 3770K for a while yet really. It's got 8 threads, that's going to be more than enough for a long while. Remember too the GPU is usually more important than the CPU for gaming - CPU is the second most important thing in my opinion.

Not all games are created equal. And sometimes the 3820 is by far cheaper than the 3770k, at microcenter they go for 229.99, with a entry level asus board you end up spending 400ish for mobo and cpu, which isnt much different than what you would spend on a midrange mobo and cpu for 1155.

If he is main use if for gaming then why not just recommend 3570K.
Just to inform you that IVB-E 6/4 core CPUs are coming Q3 2013 and Haswell will release mostly around april 2013. Intel already said Haswell will be 2x faster than IVB.

haswell 2x faster? Don't believe that, then AMD needs a wonder to compare with haswell :P

I went wrong over there, I reread the articles and it says the GPU is 2x fast :P
although IVB and SNB won't be compatible as it has LGA 1150 socket Z87 chipset.

I am going to be using this for gaming... AMD is better for multitasking where as intel is better for gaming... so you say to go with 3770k? or 3570k? i want a processor that i will be able to play lot of games down the road ex: battlefield 4 so what do you guys recommend? Thanks in advance :)

Well a 3570K is all you need now, but if you really want an i7, I say go for a 3770K.

Intel is better in every part if you compare an i7 3770k vs fx8350. And the fx won't win much improvement when oc'd since the base clock is already 4ghz...

Unless you want a case that is severely overpriced and lacking in features, do not use that case. It is not even worth $30 for the features it has and the lack of space.

Look at Corsair, Fractal Design, NZXT, or BitFenix for cases.

This is over priced and not worth it. If you want a Fermi card for whatever reason, then get a used GTX 580 (they go for about $250 to $300). If not needing Fermi, then a HD 7950 is the undisputed champion of FPS per dollar (they are going for $300).

Very good decision here. Only one better is the Z77X-UP7. Both would be a tight fit in a normal ATX case, but should go just fine.

Thanks for the advice On the cases could you maybe recommend one? as for graphics card which brand is best? Nividia?
