Hi

Just wandering whats the best way for getting a better sound out of a laptop.
I'm currently just listening to music and watching films with the speakers on the laptop.
Whats the best way to upgrade?

Many thanks

if you carry your laptop around from place to place, headphones could likely be a better choice for you. another positive about headphones is say that your budget for speakers is only $100... a $100 set of headphones is going to sound a LOT nicer than a $100 set of speakers.

as geoff said, a sound card is going to be necessary, though. if music were all you were going to be listening to, the audigy2 zs notebook would not be the best option for you, however seeing as you will be using it with a laptop it is one of your only decent options anyways...

if you're in any shape or form an audiophile, you could look into getting an amp for your 'phones as well..

if you're at all interested let me know and i can suggest some things to you ...

Cheers for the advice

I was just looking to set it up in my bedroom, and just unplug the speakers if I was to move my laptop around.
I like the look of the audigy card but I have my wireless network card in that slot.
Could i use any of the other external soudcards?

Also would I need a soundcard with the 2.1 speakers that Creative do?

Many thanks

so you only have one pcmcia slot on your laptop which is taken by the network card?

a sound card is going to provide you with much better sound.....

yea i have the same problem i also have a wireless card in the slot and i want a soundcard to hook up with my speakers. im pretty sure that u can get a usb wireless thing but also i know that creative has a usb soundcard that ive heard good things about the live 24 bit external and also the audigy 2 nx. im not sure how the sound compares to the audigy 2 zs pcmia card though

Hi

Has anyone used theses usb soundcards, I've just seen them on Ebay there very cheap so I'm sure there no good.
Any opinions?

Chris

I suggest either external speakers and a new sound card (ie if you don't carry the thing around everywhere) or some large sound-cancelling headphones from SONY (trust me - they deliver the BOMB in sound quality) if you wanna take it around everywhere.
