Best Business through Computers?

I was wondering what is the best business to start from scratch in computer field, can be Hardware/Software. I just have online business now, I am looking forward to start a computer related business. Any Suggestions, there is no hurry, if any entrepreneur here can suggest something or any other member.
What do you guys say?

hardware is the way to go i'd say, cuz then you can get your stuff for next to nothing compared to what you'd sell it for.

Well if you can get a few good programmers with some good software ideas, then you could start both off and see where it takes you. Just my thoughts.

I'm aiming for the software road, the hardware way would require lots of investment I think, hardware would require buying a company product and selling it to the users?
Creating own hardware would be a tough task.

creating hardware would be hard as hell, thought you meant buying whole sale and selling like a newegg or tigerderict style site or something

Hardware would be tough to start, I agree, no matter how you go about it. You could do interfacing software. It all really depends on where you want to go with your company and such.

very small margins in selling computer hardware.
And tough to compete against people with bulk buying power like newegg.com
Some of these companies can sell things for cheaper than what you can buy them as a reseller.
I would probably learn web programming, php/mysql and do freelance work.

+1 for the hardware being expensive.
But about the web-designing there is a lot of competition in India specially cities like Pune.

For a city like Pune, I would suggest having a Computer Repair/Assembly Business which will not require a lot of investment from your side.
Like Computer Repair software and hardware and new computer assembly and if you want trading in used computer parts, because that is a thing which is not very common.
And it would be great if you can provide Home service for computer repair and etc.

I am looking creating new stuff, something big. About php/mysql, yeah! my site is under construction. But hardware would be not impossible I guess. It's creating new stuff I'm looking forward to. A mini OS could be an option for a start?

I would go with the OS, starting a new Linux Distro that has yet to be done before would be nice. Like I would create a Linux Distro that is a enterprise class that would only be released every three years and instead of paying subscription fee's I would do a one time flat rate of like $50. On that note though to do such a thing especially when your talking about delivering a enterprise class OS you need a pretty good staff which means Money to start.

In order to create mini OS which runs under Windows for example is hard as hell trust me.You need to have a lot of knowledge and patience to make something like that.I am working on one and I can assure you that making even a simple taskbar which shows currently opened tasks is very hard to make not to mention the rest and the main code (kernel) and also not to mention to make your OS to have an ability to install and uninstall programs which AGAIN you must make by yourself. It's pretty hard and demanding task believe me.
I am not saying one person cannot make all that.Hell I can make all that by myself, but the point is that for something like mini OS,you should have at least few good programmers because if one man (programmer) is creating all that alone,he/she will need at least 3 years to make it lol.Plus ALL the programs which can be installed IN THAT MINI OS is another year if not even more lol.Of course if ONE person is working all that like I do for example. If you have more people than it's easier because everyone does his/her part.

Anyway if I were you,I would rather make few nice useful programs with a nice price rather than lose a LOT of time on creating mini OS.Unless if you have MANY people in your company lol.

If you want I can make software for you lol.Extra cash would come in handy for me ^^

Your can also offer other services too such as:

-recovery of deleted data
-Windows OS installations/repairs
-program installations/repairs
-deleting viruses from the computers
-fixing dramatical failures such as when OS won't boot
-HDD clone
-data backup
-saving data if OS cannot boot
-providing instructions in which over an online connection using Team Viewer you can learn people about the computer hardware, software and computer programming and earn money on that too
-And so on...

I offer all of the above things btw lol.The only problem is that I am alone and need to do all that by myself xD

Hey we can work together if you want lol.

Cheers!

^ I have a team of 5 and we are currently doing .NET projects.
Where are you from? Do you think we could have a good partnership?
I'm basically doing 3rd Computer Engineering. :)

What about social networking?
If Google+ can't beat Facebook, how can I beat em?

I am from Croatia.(Far far away I know).Still I don't see that as a problem since with today's technology you can work somewhere else like you are really there even if it's on the other side of the planet. That's the point of the ONLINE work, internet and programs like Team Viewer in the first place anyway ;)

My projects (windows applications) are also based on .NET framework.
Most of the time I use old .NET 1.0...don't ask me why lol that's just me I guess :P

I suppose you use .NET 4.0 ? If yes that's really not a problem at all since many things are easier in .NET 4.0 anyway.
You might pay attention on the compatibility though...since projects made in .NET 3.0 , 3.5 and especially in 4.0 do not work correctly or do not work at all under older Windows operating systems such as Windows 98,ME and sometimes even 2000.Still that shouldn't be a problem since most of the people do not use those operating systems, but there ARE still many companies, schools and even hospitals which use those old Windows operating systems. My country is unforcenately a perfect example for that lol.
The point is that the more your application (project) is compatible, more people will be buying it.Because after all...MONEY is the point of all this anyway :P
I know few softwares which work ONLY under Windows 7.It doesn't even work in Vista. But if that same software made by someone else works under MANY Windows editions,it is a bigger chance that the one which is more compatible will bring a lot more money.I am pretty sure that you know many "geeks" which hate upgrading their operating systems.Well in those cases, application (project) made by let's say "us" which is more compatible will be selling a lot more. And after all that's the whole point :P

I have been working through the Team Viewer many times on other computers in other countries in order to help people, educate them and also fix their problems. At the end it is the same wether I am there or not.
It's important that the work has been done wether it is when the person is REALLY there in the office or if the person has connected to THAT computer in the office from other country. It is the same thing at the end anyway.

Also one thing aboput the projects is that MANY people believe it or not like to have a program which can be customizable. That means that most of the people like to have an ability in their programs to change it's look, rearange the controls just the way they like it,colors, letters and so on.These things do not seem important to "us" but to many users they do.Most of the people will not buy a program no matter how good it is if they do not or cannot change the look of the program in the case if they don't like it.

As for the team,5 is not bad at all.Of course the more the better :P
Today many people work online from home.It is the same at the end anyway.Wether you are there or doing it from home. That's the point of the INTERNET anyway.

I have just finished few jobs with few people so currently I am free and available so if possible,I could be a part of your team if you agree with that of course.Like I said above...money can always come in handy to me ^^
I like working in team. After all it is always better, faster and easier to work in team than alone like I do most of the time lol.
Of course I do not have to do the same job like your team does.I can do the most boring part if you want.I am used to everything anyway lol.For example I can:

-be a tester and test your projects and report bugs...
-test applications on other Windows operating systems (any) and report compatibility bugs and issues...
-be a part of your team and help with the project by writing one part of the code while the rest is working on other parts in order to finish project sooner...
-sending commercials about new products to your clients in order to spread your commercials.(Even though I would rather make the project which does this for us daily anyway lol)
-or whatever you decide for me to do of course.Like I said...I am used to everything :P

Anyway think about it and let me know.

Just remember the basic rule of business....

Service related fields profit sooner, and the Product side requires a larger investment upfront. However, Product will profit over time with lower costs in the future, service side may require more training and more employees later on to continue to climb in profitabilty.

Depends I guess... how much you got to invest now? ;)
