ok, what I want to know is this. is it worth it to connect an amp and some serious speakers up to my comp? or is just having the basic speakers almost the same, is it worth it to conncet the amp if so how do I do it? I mostly game and I want the very best sound and effects. ( I know their is know sound card in my rig, getting it soon)

You do usually get better sound via an external amp, (Depends how good the amp is though)

What motherboard do you have?
And what Amp.

The reason I am asking is because some motherboards come with external audio connections like SPDIF-Out, which would let you connect your amp via a coxial connection.

My Motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-M55S-LI4 AM2, nFORCE 4 SLI, ATX, PCIEx16, DUALDDRII, SATAII, SND, GBeLAN.

as for amp I am looking to buy one. I am not sure wich to get, I am looking to spend about $250 Australian maxium. can you guys please suggest a suitable amp

Thanks:D

It depends a lot too on what speakers you are going to buy/have and whether or not their sub has a built in amp already. Buying another amp could just be over kill. Now, if you are going to buy some really nice, powerful speakers, an amp would definetely be worth the purchase.

As far as speakers... I would, without a doubt, go for some good speakers and a good audiocard... it makes a world of difference.
